Wine Tours anyone?

If you have ever traveled with me you know a huge focus is where are we going to eat!
For me everyday had to have as either the primary focus or it can be secondary if we are also touring historical areas as well, is an outstanding foodie experience.

I adore a wonderful location, a place with a story, a great chef, some wine and friends.

Here is a sample of some tours in Europe to dream about.

Tuscany Wine Tour

This wine tour in Italy is a dream come true for wine lovers, who are looking to taste the famous and greatest wines of Tuscany along with local gourmet specialties. It is a fabulous wine tour week in Tuscany of small vineyards, a hilltop Tuscan towns, and incredible food and wine along the way. The personal connection with the people at all of the places makes the tour even more special.

Accommodations:You will stay at a historical estate that has been owned by the same family for 9 generations. Located in the peaceful hills of Chianti, the villa is a true wonder of colors and fragrances: The park of oak trees, the typical Italian garden with its fragrant roses and lavender, lemon trees, the garden with its seasonal vegetables, fruits, and its fragrant herbs; hectares of olive groves and vineyards. Due to its privileged position, the villa is the ideal location for discovering Tuscany's many treasures.

How about staying in a Chateaux in France for a few days and having some cooking classes?

Chateaux Vineyards and cooking class – Loire valley

Chateaux Vineyards and cooking class – Loire valley
The Loire valley is known as the garden of France. It is also known for its architectural heritage, but in particular for its world-famous castles and more particularly its many cultural monuments, which illustrate to an exceptional degree the ideals of the Renaissance and the Age of the Enlightenment on western European thought and design. On December 2, 2000, UNESCO added the central part of the Loire River valley, between Maine and Sully-sur-Loire, to its list of World Heritage Sites.:the commettee said that the Loire Valley is: "an exceptional cultural landscape, of great beauty, comprised of historic cities and villages, great architectural monuments - the Châteaux - and lands that have been cultivated and shaped by centuries of interaction between local populations and their physical environment, in particular the Loire itself."

The Tour Includes:
  • 4 nights in Hotel Le Choiseul in Amboise
  • Taxi transfer to Amboise, on Day 1
  • 4 Breakfasts
  • Entrance tickets and guided visit of Chateau de Blois, Cheverny, Chambord, Chenonceau, Amboise and Clos Lucé
  • Lunches and drinks included on Day 2 & 3
  • Transport in a luxury minivan with an English speaking guide on Day 2 & 3 (you will join a group of 8 people maximum)
  • Private tour on Day 4 (Visit and tasting at Max Vauché, goat cheese farm, cooking class and dinner, taxi transfer to your hotel)
  • Taxi transfer to Saint Pierre des Corps TGV station on Day 5

The tour does not include: other lunches, dinners, drinks, balloon flights, extras...

These are just some samples of things we can put together for you all around the world.  Please let us know if you are interested in seeing more food inspired experiences on this blog!

The Groundhog Says More Winter? Get Yourself to Hawaii Now!

Many visitors flock to the tropical destination of Hawaii to enjoy its barefoot luxuries along pristine beaches, bask in idyllic weather, explore its iconic treasures, dine on imaginative dishes, and dance the night away beneath the diamond-filled sky.

A true paradise in every sense of the word, the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands is nothing short of extraordinary, spellbinding tourists with its cultural atmosphere infused by warm people, cuisine and a history worthy of discovery.

For this reason, Hawaii remains one of the United States’ most prized possessions and one the world’s must-see destinations constantly imprinted by the footsteps of adoring fans.
However, visiting this tropical oasis can come at a hefty price, which may even have you consistently dipping into your account to fulfill your vacation dreams.

Here are six ways to get the islands inexpensively and the best bargains to discover hidden beneath Hawaii’s surface.

Travel Agents
As the geniuses of the travel industry, travel professionals are more than prepared to design your Hawaiian itinerary at a cheaper cost.
They also can provide a wealth of knowledge when finding the best hotels and off-the-beaten-path activities that will not necessarily burn a hole in your wallet.

Nancy at CruiseOne is Certified by the Hawaii Visitor Bureau as a Destination Specialist on all islands.  This includes rigorous online and on island training.  Cultural, Geographic, Properties, Activities.

Traveling during the off-season
Traveling during the off season can de finitely be a money saver for the vacationer.
It is also a great way to see the beautiful Hawaiian Islands, peacefully away from the flood of tourists overcrowding the hotels and attractions.

Vacation/Tour Packages  -

We use consolidators, vacation packages and tour packages are ideal for traveler wanting to get to where he/she is going conveniently. We work with all of these and more to sort through the madness, get you the best deals and amenities.  We can also VIP you due to our relationships with the Hotel Managers.

With many package deals like Apple Vacations, FunJet and Blue Sky Tours combine airfare, hotel accommodations, and car rental, in addition to sightseeing adventures for one great price.

Apple Vacations may even include incentives such as free whale watching tickets with each room booked in its preferred hotels.

Blue Sky Tours takes their all-inclusivity to another level with complementary room upgrades, intermediate car rental for four days, and complimentary breakfasts in its participating resorts.

Drive Halfway
What’s the point of paying two airfares to go to one destination?

Driving to Hawaii is out of the question. But, depending on your location it may be less expensive to drive to the destination from where your flight is leaving than catching a connecting flight.

Book your Hawaiian vacation in advance
Booking your vacation in months ahead is a great way to score cheaper tickets than organizing your trip a month or two in advance.

This is because airlines and hotel accommodations offer more availability at a cheaper price and travelers are not required to pay extra for plane fuel fees as well as other extra add-ons.
..
Book your Hawaiian vacation same day as travel
Waiting until the last minute is certainly a risk-taker but it can be a risk worth taking.
If a flight is not full to capacity, travelers may be offered a cheaper ticket to travel last minute.

You may want to rethink doing this during busy travel seasons for running the risk of getting stranded or being turned away.

Experience Top Chef at Sea, exclusively on Celebrity Cruises

Experience Top Chef at Sea, exclusively on Celebrity Cruises®

Prepare for a vacation that will thrill your inner chef’testant.

We’re excited to announce our partnership with Bravo and their Emmy Award winning television show—Top Chef. It’s a match made in… well, the kitchen—and the results of pairing our culinary expertise with their culinary savoir faire are simply mouthwatering. Our new program is called Top Chef At Sea, and beginning in July of this year, you can step aboard any of our ships* and discover new ways to thrill your palate, master culinary skills, and take your vacation to the next tantalizing level.

To create our Top Chef At Sea program, we blended Top Chef-inspired activities and flavors into an already extensive culinary experience. Step aboard and be wowed with Quickfire Challenges that put you in the spotlight where you’ll feel the pressure the chef’testants experience on the show. Plus, indulge in some of the dishes the judges raved about on the show at our Top Chef Night in the main restaurant, where we’ll feature a wide selection dishes, from appetizers to desserts, that were big hits on the show—all for your discerning palate.

And for our dedicated foodies, we’re introducing four Top Chef Signature Sailings, where you’ll be joined by some of the show’s most popular and talented chef’testants. Rub shoulders with the chefs and sample some of their creations at special Meet & Eat gatherings (featuring hors d’oeuvres prepared from the chefs’ recipes) on vacations in Bermuda, Alaska, Europe, and the Caribbean. With as many as four chefs per sailing, you’ll have the opportunity to get the low-down on what it was like to be on the show and find out what they have in store next.

On board, your chefs will give demonstrations, lead private cooking classes, join you for special dinners in one of our specialty restaurants, participate with you in Quickfire Challenges, and be featured in the main restaurant during Top Chef Night, where they’ll hobnob with you and your fellow guests as you enjoy dishes that carry their seal of approval.

This year, we’re tempting your taste buds, honing your skills, and putting you to the test on a journey with a culinary focus that will have your inner chef’testant jumping for joy. And, as always, that’s just a taste of all the extraordinary experiences we have in store for you on a modern, upscale vacation that will leave you completely restored and renewed—and hungry for more.

Cruise Ship Dry Dock Schedule 2013

Cruise Ship Renovations: The Complete Schedule

Through the course of a year, we spend a lot of time at
sea, but our favorite voyages are often those on brand new cruise
ships. These beauties may not quite waft that “new car” smell, but
new vessels usually have the latest bells and whistles and best address
the industry’s current trends in design, dining, activities,
entertainment and more.
Conversely, we don’t like boarding an older ship and finding dated
décor, ragged furnishings or malodorous accommodations. If we
find out during our cruise that our ship is headed for a refurbishment a
few weeks or months later, it only adds insult to injury.

All cruise ships must go in for renovations eventually, to
repair wear and tear, to make repairs, and to add new, trending
features.

Of course, cruise lines prefer to keep their product fresh and
appealing and, accordingly, most ships go in for a two-week dry dock
overhaul every three years or so. The ship is taken out of the
water for a thorough cleaning of the hull (hence the name dry dock),
while interior and topside issues are also addressed.
While some dry dock refurbishments may involve little more than a
deep cleaning and replacement of carpet and paint as needed, others can
be more extensive, adding additional cabins and decks, or in some cases
even extending the ship by adding a new midsection.
Into that latter category falls Carnival Destiny, a 101,000-ton
vessel that first went to sea in 1996 as the largest ship afloat. When
Destiny goes in for a seven-week dry dock on February 22, 2013, the
reconfiguration will be substantial, involving 182 new cabins, new
restaurants, new bars, and the addition of the popular adults-only
Serenity deck (actually three decks)—an overhaul that will add up to a
$155 million price tag, according to Carnival. The final result will be
something close to a new ship. In fact, when Destiny emerges from the
surgery, she’ll carry a new name, Carnival Sunshine.
We predict you’re going to be hearing a lot more about cruise line
facelifts in the months and perhaps years to come. Why? From design to
construction to delivery, it takes upwards of three years to build a new
cruise ship, and today it appears there are fewer new ships on order
than at any time in recent history. For instance, although Carnival
Breeze debuted in June 2012, Carnival has no new ships on order for the
first time in more than two decades. Holland America hasn’t announced a
new ship since Nieuw Amsterdam came on line in 2010. And Royal Caribbean
also hasn’t had a new ship since 2010 when Allure of the Seas launched.
Credit the lingering world recession that has cruise line honchos
keeping their pocketbooks in check. Although 2012 saw the arrival four
major new ships, of the eight biggest lines catering to the U.S. market,
only two new ships are scheduled for 2013: Norwegian Breakaway in April
and Royal Princess in June. (Things start to pick up again in 2014,
when we can look forward to one each from Norwegian, Princess and Royal
Caribbean.)
As a result, we’re seeing the major cruise lines investing more of
their resources in renovations than in replacing older ships, extending
the life of their older models by a few years. While this is likely just
a cyclical blip, before booking a cruise vacation check our charts
listing planned dry docks for the major cruise lines. Keep in mind that
renovations schedules do change, so verify with your travel agent or the
cruise line directly before committing a nonrefundable deposit on a
yet-to-be remodeled ship.
While we can’t promise that new car smell when these ships emerge
from refurbishment, we think you, too, will appreciate a little nip and
tuck.
